Anysberg Nature Reserve

Western Cape

Anysberg Nature Reserve is situated about four hours from Cape Town in the Klein Karoo between Montagu, Touwsrivier, Laingsburg and Ladismith. The reserve has some of the best vistas and views in the Karoo, in addition to intriguing plants, animals and leisure activities.

Anysberg was founded in 1988 with the intent of conserving the indigenous veld type and reintroduce wildlife that previously occurred in the region. Various properties were purchased by Leslie Hill Succulent Trust between 1996 and 2001 or donated to WWF, increasing the reserve's area to about 62 500 ha. The landscape features gently undulating Karoo plains and rugged mountains. Meandering through the reserve are three tributaries from the Gouritz River, the Anys, Prins and Touws Rivers.
