Yzerfontein

Yzerfontein is a tranquil seaside town just 80 kilometres north of Cape Town before Langebaan. It is famous for its 16 mile beach, one of the longest sandy beaches in South Africa,that stretches north from the town to the West Coast Nature Reserve.

Yzerfontein has a moderate climate even in winter and visitors can enjoy a multitude of activities, including bird watching, mountain biking, 4x4 trails and water sports to name a few. The nearby West Coast National Park also offers mountain biking and hiking trails, and bird lovers can paddle to Schaapen Island in the lagoon to observe the many species of water birds, however only from the water as the island itself is off limits. The park also features eland and other smaller animals.
