Wakkerstroom Farm Lodge is a world-renowned wetland and montane grassland destination, which is well-known for its many endemic bird species. The Farmhouse accommodates eight guests and the quaint adjacent bedroom with an en-suite bathroom, which sleeps two guests. Guests can also stay in Oom Hans' Cottage, a two-bedroom, self-catering cottage, with no electricity, but a gas geyser, fridge and stove. Another self-catering cottage, Badenhorst Cottage, is also available in town.The species to be found in the vast grassland include all three crane species, ground woodpecker, bald ibis, blue kor

WE were unable to stay at Wakkerstroom Farm Lodge as when we arrived, there was no host to meet & greet us and everything was locked up. We then went into Wakkerstroom to have dinner and then return to the cottage, but again, on our second arrival, everything was locked up and there was no-one t meet & greet us. This prefab shack doesn't say there is NO electricity. Signage is outdated. Impossible to find at night. Doors don't lock properly and there were dead bugs and flies in the bed and behind the bed. It was a shocking experience. It is not part of a lodge. A lodge suggest infrastructure- there is none.

We enjoyed the silence and peace in the garden, the history of the house and everything inside the house is intriguing & takes one really back to how life was before all technology.

There are a lot of good points but a lot of not so good points.The cistern is broken and the toilet must be flushed manually.All the drains are blocked and takes forever to drain away.There are a lot of cracked windows.
